Where is the Blog Dog??

We recently lost the dog. Inside the family room. It's not a big family room. Kinda hard to loose a 25 pound dog, right? Hmmm. Not if there's room behind the sofa!

The Two Dogs of Frederick

Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Frederick, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny...

Wait, that was Romeo and Juliet, not Two Gentlemen of Verona...

Oh well, sort of fitting.

Bernie, an accident of broken fencing, was born of yellow lab and fathered by golden retriever. Winston, a blue-blood yellow lab, so to speak, was born to puppy pen, the same.

The first quick of wit and quicker of foot left the pen at eight weeks to live in a fine home with a loving family. The second while quick of wit, but more deliberate of pace, was left to his breeders care but four weeks more. Then he too found home and family, and joy of joys that his pen mate of old should live next door!

Winston and Bernie were born of different parents, just one day apart, at the same breeder. This blog will tell the story of Winston and his partner in crime, Bernie

Winston did not even get inside his new home before he was enthusiastically greeted by his old penmate! After about 20 minutes or so of hard puppy play he adjourned inside for a fine nap in his new home.

The rest of the day was spent learning about his new home and getting familar with his new family. That was two weeks ago! Winston grows bigger and stronger each day.

The routine is pretty well down, thanks to Mom, and all goes well for the most part (as long as Dad doesn't come home and mess things up). Each day starts early with a trip from the crate to the backyard for a bout ten minutes to do the duty. Then its back into the house for breakfast and to see The Boy off to school. After some playtime with Mom, Bernie usually comes out to play for 30 minutes or so.

Then it's time for a dog tired dog to sleep most of the morning until lunch! The afternoon is training time and some more play with Bernie, then a nap until Dad gets home to play. Eventually someone brings The Boy home from football so he can play and then we all eat dinner. After dinner it's naptime again until a final bout of play before bed at 9:30 or so.
Walks and extra training get thrown in when ever there is time, and there will be more about that in future posts.
